Communication in Rett
Syndrome
IRSF provides educational resources for the long-term management of communication in individuals with Rett syndrome.

They deserve to be heard.
When we tap into the communication capabilities of children with Rett syndrome, their lives transform. Then they can engage in meaningful school, play, and social interactions.
To address this critical issue, IRSF developed the Rett Syndrome Communication Guidelines and the Communication in Rett Syndrome Program. These in-depth resources provide parents, caregivers, communication professionals, therapists, and educators access to the best information and strategies to facilitate communication.
Rett Syndrome Communication Guidelines
The Rett Syndrome Communication Guidelines are an invaluable resource for therapists, educators, and families who seek information on the assessment, intervention, and long-term management of communication in individuals with Rett syndrome. This in-depth, evidence-based publication involved the participation of over 600 professionals and caregivers across 43 countries.

The handbook will be a valuable manual to families of individuals with Rett Syndrome after initial diagnosis and in the years to come. These families can use the handbook when meeting with doctors so that parents and caregivers are more knowledgeable in advocating for therapies for their children.

These guidelines are an effective and concise resource that students and professionals can refer to during their training and for years to come as they are applicable to almost anyone who may use or need AAC.

I just had an IEP today and want to send it to our speech and language therapist right now. I want to send to my extended family and all therapists that work with Jaidyn [daughter] for ideas, consistency, and understanding for communication.
