The Strollathon is IRSF’s signature event and the programs keep growing! This year IRSF families hosted 14 Strolls all over the country – and we look forward to even more next year. If you are interested in hosting or helping with a Strollathon contact us – IRSF takes care of mailings, accounting, supplies and many other things that make a Strollathon successful! 2nd Annual St. Louis Strollathon The 2nd annual St. Louis Strollathon, held on Saturday May 2nd, was a huge success. More than 450 participants turned out for the 1-mile walk in Tilles Park. Despite forecasts of thunderstorms, it was a beautiful day. About 21 families of girls and women with RTT participated, including families from MO, IL, KS and TN. We had music, food, clowns, face painting and even the St. Louis Cardinal mascot Fredbird. The Strollathon raised more than $45,000 – bringing the 2-year total to over $100,000!!! A special thank you goes to Lilly Opinsky’s 3rd grade class at Highcroft Ridge Elementary School for collecting over $2,100. A BIG thank you goes to the Opinsky Family of Chesterfield, MO who has hosted the St. Louis Strollathon both years! Great job! Link to Photo Album |  Thank you to our Sponsors!  | 2nd Annual Emma and Friends Chicago Strollathon Chaired by: Marcia Adamski The 2nd annual Chicago Strollathon was held on May 16th at Midlothian Meadows in Illinois. It was a perfect day and nearly 10 girls with Rett syndrome and their friends and families joined us to Stroll our way to a cure! It was a fun-filled day of music, food, clowns and even a snow-cone machine! The 3-mile walk through the Midlothian Meadows forest preserve was beautiful. This year’s Strollathon raised over $14,000 bringing the total over 2 years to over $30,000!! Thanks to Marcia Adamski for chairing this Strollathon in honor of her Granddaughter Emma Prinsen. Link to Photo Album |  Thank you to our Sponsors!  | 1st Annual Rachel’s Stroll and Roll for Rett Michigan Strollathon Chaired by: Lisa Fenberg The 1st annual Rachel's Stroll and Roll for Rett, hosted by Lisa Fenberg and the Kopelman family of Commerce, MI, was a huge success! The event, held at Oakland Community College in Farmingotn, MI, was hosted in memory of Rachel Kopelman. There were about 250 people in attendance and everyone enjoyed a great day of food, entertainment and lots of fun! This 1st year event raised over $31,000! Way to go! Find an event in your area |  Thank you to our Sponsors!  | 3rd Annual Race for Grace Chaired by: Tara Reddington Race for Grace 2009, held on May 23rd, was another incredible year for everyone who participated. This event, hosted by the Reddington family of Naragannset, RI raised another remarkable $100,000 for Rett syndrome research!! “That is Amazing Grace doing God's work” says Tara Reddington, “People clearly recognize the need to support research to find a cure for Rett syndrome but also people recognize the need to support one another and receive the love and faith that pours freely and abundantly from being part of the Race for Grace.” Thanks to everyone who was involved in big and little ways! Link to Photo Album Find an event in your area |  | 4th Annual Colorado Western Strollathon Chaired by: Carole Benjamin The Colorado Strollathon was held on August 8th, 2009. The Strollathon this year was a big success with over 500 people attending and raising more than $60,000. We had bouncers, carnival games, live music by the MoBros, an authentic chuckwagon lunch, a live and silent auction. It was a beautiful day and everyone had a great time! The Cincinnati team welcomed over 32 families from all over OH, KY and IN. With well over 500 participants, the 6th Annual Strollathon raised close to $200,000 for Rett syndrome research! There were clowns, Pooh and Tigger, a raffle and silent auction and family friendly entertainment! Leap Beyond also set up a modified bike display so that girls with Rett syndrome could try them out. This year’s Strollathon was dedicated to the memory of a very special angel – Michaela Walls. Michaela’s family participated in the Strollathon in her honor. The Walls family has been such a big support for IRSF. We thank them for all they have done. They had perfect weather and families coming from as far as 200 miles away. They had a silent auction, music, Muggins the clown and topped things off with root beer floats from their Sponsor, Pepsi! Among the highlights was the youngest Rett girl at the Stroll, Ava Meduri at 2 years old and the oldest Rett girl at the Stroll, Shelley Gonzales, at 47. Link to Photo Album Find an event in your area |  Thank you to our Sponsors!  | 8th Annual New Jersey Strollathon Chaired by: The Medlin and Greenfield Families A perfect weather day brought out over 200 people to Stroll a one mile path through one of the counties most beautiful parks. The local assemblywomen, Mary Pat Angelini presented the NJ team with a framed proclamation dedicating October as Rett Syndrome Awareness Month. They had games, fun and food for everyone and the teams are already planning to come again next year. Find an event in your area |  | 4th Annual NY/NJ/CT Tri-state Strollathon Chaired by: Lisa Lebson This year’s Stroll took place on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon. The Tri-State Strollathon had a great turnout and completed their Stroll along a path that overlooked the George Washington Bridge at the Ross Dock Recreation area. Following the walk everyone had a wonderful time enjoying live music, food, face painting and other activities at our carnival. Special thanks go to Alissa Schurr for all her help this year! We had support from the Chico State Volleyball Team, Chico State Speech and Language Club, along with our corporate sponsors. We had 5 Rett girls from Northern CA in attendance, Alexis Herrick, Maddie Parker, Peyton Cunningham, Claire English and Alessandra Chandler. This first time event raised close to $9,000!! Find an event in your area |  | 1st Annual Houston Strollathon Chaired by: Kenna Seiler To wrap up October, the 1st Annual Houston Strollathon was a huge success! On October 31st over 400 people gathered at Rob Fleming Park in The Woodlands, TX to Stroll and Roll their way to a cure. With over 30 families in attendance this first time event raised well over $35,000 that beautiful Saturday morning. Strollers and Rollers participated in a silent auction and a raffle and enjoyed the music of The Seldom Herd and Kevin and Colton Black. Schwan’s foods handed out ice cream and the Salvation Army provided water and Halloween treats. After the walk the Halloween Costume Contest commenced. Winners included Lady GaGa, an Angel, a cowboy and a Lady Bug. The costumes were great and everyone had a spooking good time! A BIG thank you goes out to Kenna Seiler – the brains behind this 1st Annual Strollathon! We cannot wait to see what she has in store for next year!
