Guadalupe "Lupita" Jimenez – Los Angeles, CA
Age: 4 years and 10 months old Understanding to God’s wish for me. Peacefully praying for a miracle; Invincible to any obstacle. Tolerable to all type of pain; Angels like me awaiting my gain.
I was born on October 27, 2004. My parents named me Guadalupe after the Virgin Mary, who is honored on December 12 & ironically, I was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome on December 11, 2007, just a day before her celebration.
I started developing like any normal baby, my only problem seemed to be physical, because at nine months I still couldn’t sit on my own, crawl or pull myself to a stand, but at ten months I began physical therapy, I learned how to crawl & at age two I began walking. Unfortunately, at around eighteen months, I lost my speaking ability.
I have a very busy day, I go to school from 9-3pm and I have ABA therapy from 4-4:45pm, not to mention my dad is my very own “physical therapist” he & I exercise about twenty five minutes every morning.
I love books, music & my favorite cartoon is “Barney”. I enjoy being around my younger sister Ximena, & when she bugs me, I just turn around & pull her hair.
I want to thank all the people that have helped me & continue to help. Thank you “tia Angie” for caring & loving me so much, thank you “papi” for being my best physical therapist & thank you Mommy for going above & beyond to help me get better every day.
Toasts!
