Zoee Nicole Cannon – Ogden, UT
Age: 5 years old
Parents: Patty Cannon
Our Rett angel was born on March 30, 2003. Her name is Zoee Nicole Cannon. Her parents are Courtney and Patty Cannon. She has one older sister, Kaylee and one older brother, Targhee. Zoee's birth was a much anticipated one and our family welcomed her with great excitement. Zoee was a beautiful and perfect baby. At the age of 10 months, Zoee started to display the first symptoms of Rett Syndrome. Eighteen months later, on June 6th 2005, the diagnosis of Rett Syndrome was confirmed through genetic testing. Although this diagnosis was overwhelming in the beginning and our family suffered from much sorrow and grief, she has given back and continues to give back much more than she takes. Zoee is and always has been absolutely beautiful to look at. She has big brown eyes that penetrate the soul. She may not be able to talk and she has very limited use of her hands, but those eyes tell it all. She can look right through you and her mother especially, reads her like a book.
She learned to walk at nineteen months old and continues to walk. Her abilities and her communication skills are limited but with her wide range of emotions, she will always find a way to let you know what she needs and wants. She loves to be the center of attention and at times she will get so excited that she can hardly contain herself and she will move and squeal as fast as she can. She is very social, just the mere mention of school or fiends always produces a giggle or a smile. She loves music and she has her favorite songs and movies. Rett Syndrome seemed so tragic and produced so much sorrow in the beginning. Gradually those feelings of despair have been overwhelmingly replaced with feelings of gratitude and much appreciation for the opportunity to know, LOVE, serve and live with one of God's perfect angels that we call ZOEE.
A toast to our beautiful daughter who we call Zobo. You are our hero and our teacher. Your courage, strength, endurance, determination, your refusal to give up on life and most of all your bravery have taught us that there are no mountains to high to climb. YOU make the difference in our daily life. Zoee we feel so blessed to have you for our daughter. You are our world and we cherish our time together. MOM & DAD

This small, but worthy, donation is to the foundation in hopes that it might help in finding a cure for Zoee's physical infirmity. Let us not forget that although Zoee has a physical infirmity, her Spirit is immaculate, impeccable, faultless, absolute, unimpaired, unblemished, and unbroken. Most of us cannot say that we are so perfect as Zoee against spiritual ailment. So we hope for a physical cure for Zoee. But let us be comforted to know that all of us have a spiritual curator for our own spiritual ailments, even through the gift of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, our Savior.
Love,
Uncle Dan |
