Alexandria was born in Dec of 2003. She was a perfect and very happy baby. She had no problems until she was 9 months old and she still was not crawling, pulling to stand, or sitting up from a lying postition. Everyone kept telling me that she was just a little behind and there was nothing wrong. At 15 months when there was no change, I insisted on referral to early intervention and a neurologist. She began seeing an OT, PT, Speech therapist, and special education. The neurologist said nothing was wrong with her. After many more specialist and 2 more years we got the diagnosis of Rett Syndrome. Ofcourse we were devistated by the news but happy to have a diagnosis, now we have this wonderful rett family for support and hope for a cure! Alex will be starting Kindergarten in Sept 2009 and will be 6 years old on Dec. 29th. She is getting to be such a big girl. She loves to be called Princess Alex. So here is to you Alex!
