Age 3 1/2 years old

Grace is now 3 1/2 years old. She rides the bus to school every day and loves it. She actually gets mad when she can't go to school! She loves Sponge Bob and Dora, and lets us know when she doesn't want to watch our television shows! She stares her food down when it's time to eat and we don't feed her fast enough, and loves sips of diet coke when we go out to eat somewhere. Grace's kisses are the best, and she will give them on command!

Grace was diagnosed in April 2007 with Rett Syndrome. She has never talked (more than "ma", "da", and "ba"), crawled, walked alone, or fed herslf. Shortly after her diagnosis, she battled seizures until her medication was regulated, and she has been seizure free since May 10th, 2007! She still gives us fits going to bed at night, but has finally gotten her reflux problem under control since we increased her medication for it. She just recently got new, larger braces for her legs with pretty butterflies again, and new orthopaedic shoes. Our latest project is working on getting a medical bed so she will sleep safer at night.

Grace, this toast is to you, for your beauty, innocence, and courage; your strength, unconditional love, and your grace (you were so appropriately named). We are so blessed to know you, care for you, and love you. Thank you for all the lessons I never knew I'd come close to having the oppertunity of learning, and the ones I will continue to learn. You are truly a Rett Angel my love.
