What is the Vivint Gives Back Project?
The Vivint Gives Back Project is a program run by Vivint, Inc. It is an opportunity for Facebook users to help Vivint support charities that are doing good work in neighborhoods and communities across the United States. It is great opportunity for these local charities to be recognized by their supporters. This program is also designed to help direct Vivint's philanthropic dollars, which are donated by Vivint employees to eligible charities who are helping restore hope for families across North America. The charity that receives the most votes will receive $250,000, while the remaining top charity in each of the five regions will receive $100,000 each.

Can I vote if I am not a U.S. citizen?
Yes. Everyone with a Facebook log in can participate in the voting process.

What is a matching gift?
A matching gift is a donation made to a qualifying finalist charity. These gifts, donated by Vivint, match eligible donations made by the public through the Vivint Gives Back website. Vivint will match donations made by the public on a one-to-one basis, up to $2,500 per finalist charity. Donations to the Matching Gift program can be made only during specified periods of Phase II of the contest. What does all that mean? It means that when you make a donation to a finalist charity during one of our matching periods, Vivint will match that gift dollar for dollar!

How do I make a donation that will be matched?
Once a matching period has been announced, any member of the public who is eligible to vote for a charity (i.e., has a Facebook login) is eligible to make a donation that will be matched through the Vivint Gives Back Project. All gifts must be made through the Vivint Gives Back website during the matching period to be eligible. For a public donation to qualify for a match through the Vivint Gives Back Project, the donation must be a charitable contribution. These contributions are deductible on your federal income tax return. If the donor, any member of the donor's family, or any individual designated by the donor has received or will receive a benefit as the result of the contribution, the donation will not be matched. You will receive an email regarding the status of your matching donation within 10 days of making the donation through the Vivint Gives Back Project website.

Why Is Vivint requesting additional permissions on Facebook?
We wanted to provide a quick and easy way for you to notify your friends on Facebook about our contest and to invite them to support your favorite charity so we created a “sharing tool” that allows you to post a message and a link to the charity profile to your wall. The default text is “I just endorsed/voted for [charity name] on the Vivint Gives Back Project. Vivint is giving away $1.25 million dollars to local charities and I want [charity name] to win."

What is a top local charity?
During the voting phase, each of the top 100 charities will be able to submit a brief description of why it should be considered for the award. As part of this description, the charity should address:
  • The cause it is passionate about

  • Its goals for the coming year

  • Proposed timeline for implementation

  • How it will measure its success

How can I help support my favorite charities?
There are many ways to support your local charity. Get involved by letting your friends, family, and colleagues know that one of your local charities has been nominated. When the voting begins, be sure to vote for your favorite local charity every day!

Do I have to be a registered Facebook user to participate in this program?
Yes. The nomination and voting process will take place at vivint.com/Givesbackproject. To vote, you will need to use your Facebook login information. However, if you are not currently a Facebook user, you can sign up so you can participate.
