Jasmine is such a miraculous angel from God. She has such an intense eye gaze that communicates all that she thinks and feels. Here smile is simply contagious. She is a true blessing to our family.

Jasmine was born slightly prematurely but with seemingly no problems. She lost the ability to use her hands to hold her bottle as well as had GI issues at 6 months old. When she was nearly 1, I notices that she was not doing the things that her older brother did at that age (like walking and talking) and she had developed the stereotypically hand-mouthing/hand wringing assocated with Rett Syndrome. We had her evaluated and were told that she was just "severely, profoundly mentally retarded." We continued pursuing a cause and finally in 1993 when she was 5 years old, we got a diagnosis of Rett Syndrome. She has developed most of the classical symptoms of Rett Syndrome. Regardless of the symptom and/or other health challenge, Jasmine has remained so beautifully optimistic as evidenced by her ready smile.
