It is wonderful to have this opportunity to share with you about Skylar and her life.

 

Skylar’s joyful spirit is endless!!! She continues to teach us more than we will ever be able to teach her. Her gorgeous smile, belly giggles, dancing eyes and tender touch and kisses are treasured gifts. She is so very healthy and active with an insatiable appetite.

 

Skylar is in a modified Grade 2 program this year at Renfrew and doing amazing! She is participating in circle time, gym, centers, computers and music with hands on therapy support. She is always engaging with her teachers, but has really started interacting with her classmates already this year. Skylar is still walking very well, and even running and jumping. She can go up and down stairs independently. There are a couple of playgrounds at school and by our house that Skylar loves to run on, swing and slide at.

 

Skylar’s two favorite things in the world are swimming and quading!!! She loves spending time with family, especially her little cousins. She has become a little copy cat. She is taking a keen interest to story time and some television. Skylar loves music and lights, so I have a stereo and disco light in her room hooked up to a switch that she turns on whenever she wants. Her choice music is the Top 40 mix on her favorite radio station, and of course anything her brother plays. In the summer she loves camping, boating and tubing at Papa and Grandma’s.

 

Skylar’s brother Pryce is now 12 and is so incredibly patient and loving with her. She always has some special kisses, looks and babbles for her “BABA”. There is no one she loves to read to her more than Pryce, especially with his special tuck in.

 

Skylar has about 6 words she speaks clearly, but she understands so much. She is using the GoTalk 4 audcom device independently and purposely to request food, drink or a break. She also has several easy macs in the house to request more and for her greetings. Her favorite food to eat out is still the McDonald’s cheeseburger, but she is really starting to enjoy a sit down dinner in a proper restaurant now as well.

 

Skylar loves it when you make eye contact at her level and visit with her.

 

My priority with Skylar will always be to celebrate everyday, and help her to have as healthy and happy a life as possible.
