I am 6 years old and I just started kindergarten. I am so excited to be attending the same school as my big sister and big brother. I am a big kid now! I am learning all kinds of great things at school and making many new friends. I am working on becoming better with my communication device. I activate my device by wearing a reflective dot on the bridge of my glasses since my arms usually don’t do what I want them to. I am learning how to drive a power chair with a head array so that some day I will be able to move myself around. I love all of the teachers and therapists who help me, but swimming therapy is my favorite. All of my swimming is really helping me to get stronger.

I was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome at 18 months of age. Some of the things I had done as a younger child I was no longer able to do as I got older. I used to have a few words I could speak, but those stopped around the age of 1. I also used to be able to feed myself, but now I need help with that. I love to eat! My favorite foods are macaroni and cheese, ravioli, spaghetti and meatballs. (I am a pasta girl!) This summer I discovered birthday cake ice cream. It is delicious!

One of the first things people learn about me is that I love Dora the Explorer. My room is decorated with many Dora things, which just make me happy. I live with my parents, big sister, big brother and our puppy, Fleury. I am lucky to have so many people who love me and take good care of me. Things that make me smile include: Dora the Explorer, snuggling, anytime my whole family is together and being at school with my friends.
