Hello. Caitlyn was born on August 5, 2003. She appeared to develop normally until about 15 months, when she lost the few words that she had. We tried hard to teach her to sign, but she wasn't making progress. On December 3, 2005 we sat in a doctor's office hearing the words "Rett Syndrome" for the first time. No one thought the test would come back positive, but 6 weeks later we found out Caitlyn did indeed have Rett Syndrome.

Today Caitlyn is a 5 yr old little girl full of joy. She has ended her regression, and regained some social skills. She is eager to learn new things, and loves being with other kids. Caitlyn goes to school every day. She spends the morning and lunch in a special classroom that helps her focus on her specific IEP goals, and recieve more direct instruction. After lunch, Caitlyn attends a regular PM Kindergarten class. The other kids just see her as one of them, and really love having her! It has been such a joy to see her blossom in the past couple of years.
